About the position

The position serves as the organization's subject matter expert (SME) on personnel security matters, overseeing the implementation and management of a comprehensive suitability/security program. The incumbent will provide expert advice on departmental policies, supervise assigned personnel, track required trainings and certifications, and develop standard operating procedures for the Personnel Security Department.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the organization's subject matter expert (SME) on personnel security matters.
  • Oversee the overall implementation and management of a comprehensive suitability/security program.
  • Provide expert advice on the provisions of all departmental level policies to executive orders, code of federal regulations, DoD Instructions/Manuals and all applicable directives.
  • Supervise all assigned personnel supporting the overall Personnel Security and Security Manager related programs at the organization.
  • Oversee and track assigned personnel's required trainings and certifications and maintain all current and evolving requirements as the primary supervisor.
  • Develop and approve standard operating procedures for the Personnel Security Department.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment.
  • A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential.
  • Required to register for, complete and pass the Essentials of Suitability Adjudication Program (ESAP) course within 1 year of assuming position.
