About the position

The Police Officer position within the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is responsible for ensuring force protection, security, and law enforcement in the National Capital Region (NCR). This role involves safeguarding personnel, facilities, and infrastructure at the Pentagon Reservation and other Department of Defense (DoD) activities. The officer will engage in various law enforcement duties, including patrolling, investigating incidents, and managing security during significant events.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol designated areas to preserve law and order.
  • Investigate complaints, disturbances, accidents, and reported criminal activities.
  • Testify in court as required.
  • Check badges and identification cards of incoming personnel.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations of surveillance and suspicious persons on and around the Pentagon Reservation.
  • Control crowds during National Security Special Events, Presidential Inaugurations, annual marathons, protests, and ceremonies at the 9/11 Memorial.
  • Supervise employees performing police officer functions and duties of the Explosive Detection Dogs Team (EDD).

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the AD-07 grade level in the Federal service.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws to assess violations of state and/or federal laws, regulations, statutes, or articles.
  • Experience performing patrol duties and enforcing traffic rules, directives, and procedures.
  • Experience conducting contingency actions in response to incidents, emergencies, and hostile actions.
  • Experience conducting inspections of buildings and vehicles utilizing a canine to locate explosive devices.
  • Ability to provide care, maintenance, and training to Explosives Detection Dog (EDD).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in law enforcement or security roles in high-stakes environments.
  • Knowledge of emergency response protocols and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the operations of the Pentagon and DoD facilities.
