About the position

The Supervisory Procurement Analyst position at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) involves analyzing complex legislative actions and regulations to develop and implement procurement policies and procedures. The role requires integrating new federal developments into ongoing programs, establishing management controls for compliance, and providing expert advice on acquisitions for IT and non-IT equipment. The analyst will also be responsible for developing training for IRS contracting professionals and overseeing procurement operations to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze proposed and recently passed complex legislative actions and regulations to recommend and develop strategies for IRS procurement policies.
  • Integrate new Federal and Department of Treasury developments into ongoing programs and initiatives.
  • Establish internal management controls for regulatory compliance in procurement.
  • Utilize re-engineering principles to improve procurement operations and customer service.
  • Develop alternatives for solving procurement policy problems with diverse stakeholder views.
  • Create procurement training for IRS contracting professionals and management personnel.
  • Advise top-level management on acquisitions impacting the tax system.
  • Oversee the work of senior contracting professionals and utilize project management skills.
  • Respond to technical inquiries regarding Federal procurement regulations.

Requirements

  • Must have completed mandatory training for progression to GS-13 or higher-level contracting positions.
  • At least 4 years of experience in contracting or related positions, with 1 year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower level.
  • A bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in relevant fields such as accounting, business, finance, or law.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project/program management or as a technical advisor.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external customers.
