About the position

The Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist position is located in Region 7, Immediate Office Division, Public and Government Affairs Branch, Communications Section. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing public affairs activities while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The position requires physical presence at the duty station in Lenexa, KS, with occasional travel and eligibility for telework after meeting certain requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct the activities of the organizational unit.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Meet customer needs through effective public affairs strategies.
  • Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Represent the Agency with various functional area organizations.
  • Spend less than 25% of work time on contracts, grants, and interagency agreements.

Requirements

  • 1 year of full-time specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level.
  • Experience in organizing and performing public affairs activities.
  • Knowledge of communication principles and analytical methods.
  • Skill in analyzing public reaction to agency programs and policies.
  • Ability to lead staff by evaluating work performance and providing guidance.
