About the position

The Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) will oversee quality assurance processes within the Quality Assurance Department at the Mid Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center. This role involves managing personnel, planning training programs, evaluating employee performance, and ensuring compliance with quality standards in shipbuilding. The specialist will also coordinate quality issue resolutions between the government and contractors, and develop departmental instructions related to quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Review workload and technical demands, adjusting ceilings and personnel assignments as required.
  • Plan and oversee the implementation of training programs to develop and maintain capabilities in newer procedures and modifications of older procedures.
  • Evaluate overall employee performance related to the quality of work processes and products.
  • Administer personnel and leave programs in accordance with directives and/or collective bargaining agreements.
  • Perform supervisory functions in personnel and performance rating programs.
  • Participate in and lead team investigations into especially urgent or complex problems.
  • Review and approve position descriptions, employment applications, and promotion documents, acting as recommending official for all audits branch quality assurance positions.
  • Coordinate the resolution of quality issues between the Government and the Contractor's Upper-Management.
  • Develop and maintain Command and departmental instructions for all processes related to quality assurance.
  • Conduct research and review of higher tier documents to ensure all Fleet, NAVSEA, and Federal requirements are incorporated into local instructions and directives.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • Must complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
