About the position

The Supervisory Service Shop Nuclear Manager will oversee the Service Shop at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, managing nuclear schedules and ensuring the successful execution of technical work documents. This role involves coordinating with various departments, reviewing schedules, and addressing any issues that may arise to maintain production efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute nuclear schedules, including interfaces with project, non-nuclear, and Comb Systems items.
• Review major event schedules and schedules for technical work documents.
• Ensure early identification and ordering of materials to support facilities and equipment by reviewing all work packages.
• Review cost and progress reports to anticipate and initiate corrective actions before exceeding cost limits or failing to meet production schedules.
• Conduct meetings to review key reports and schedules, assess progress, identify problems causing delays, and initiate corrective actions.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Experience utilizing analytical management techniques, including production and material control, cost, and quality control.
• Experience coordinating all phases of nuclear and non-nuclear surface or subsurface ship repair and overhaul.
• Experience meeting radiation exposure program requirements on a variety of nuclear naval vessels.
• Experience fabricating products to support overhaul, repair, and conversion of nuclear work on surface craft and submarines.
