About the position
The Supervisory Tax Analyst position involves managing a team within the Taxpayer Services Division of the IRS. The role focuses on planning, assigning, and evaluating work, as well as providing guidance and support to employees. This position is temporary, with the potential for extension or permanent placement, and requires strong leadership and management skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
- Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for recognition or disciplinary action.
- Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
- Interview candidates for positions within the organization/unit and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
- Resolve complaints from employees and refer group grievances as appropriate.
- Identify developmental and training needs of employees and arrange for necessary training.
- Initiate ways to improve production, work processes, and the quality of work.
Requirements
- One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level within the payband or GS grade.
- Demonstrated management/leadership experience applying management techniques and principles.
- Experience managing resources and providing support to managers.
- Experience applying regulations and official guidance relevant to the position.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.
