About the position

The Supervisory Tax Examining Technician position at the Department of the Treasury involves managing a team within the Taxpayer Services Division. The role focuses on planning, assigning, and evaluating work, as well as providing guidance and support to employees. This position is critical in ensuring efficient operations and high-quality service delivery in tax examination processes.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities and the capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates and make recommendations for recognition or disciplinary action.
  • Provide advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview candidates for positions and recommend appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
  • Resolve complaints from employees and refer grievances as necessary.
  • Initiate ways to improve production and work processes.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service.
  • Demonstrated management/leadership experience applying management techniques and principles.
  • Experience managing resources and providing support to managers and mentoring team members.
  • Experience applying regulations and official guidance relevant to the position.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project/program management or as a team lead.
  • Knowledge of labor relations concepts.
