About the position
The Assistant Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in managing the basketball program, teaching the fundamentals of the sport, and ensuring the welfare of the players. This role emphasizes adherence to safety rules, compliance with school policies, and the promotion of sportsmanship and values associated with the activity.
Responsibilities
- Cooperate with and assist the Head Coach.
- Develop a detailed plan for each practice.
- Be aware of legal responsibilities and take precautions against negligence.
- Ensure the adequate care and maintenance of equipment.
- Keep the Head Coach informed of the physical condition and welfare of the players.
- Teach the fundamentals of basketball and promote sportsmanship.
- Participate in training programs to enhance skills related to job responsibilities.
- Review current developments and literature related to basketball coaching.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
- Follow federal, state, and School Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
- Standard high school diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of basketball and ability to impart this knowledge to participants.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
