About the position

The Assistant Coach for Volleyball at Broward County Public Schools is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in managing the volleyball program. This role emphasizes teaching the sport, ensuring player welfare, and maintaining compliance with safety and non-discrimination policies. The Assistant Coach will develop practice plans, promote sportsmanship, and participate in training programs to enhance coaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Cooperate with and assist the Head Coach.
  • Develop a detailed plan for each practice session.
  • Be aware of legal responsibilities and take precautions against negligence.
  • Ensure the adequate care and maintenance of equipment.
  • Keep the Head Coach informed of the physical condition and welfare of the players.
  • Teach the fundamentals of volleyball and promote sportsmanship.
  • Participate in training programs to enhance individual skills related to job responsibilities.
  • Review current developments and literature related to coaching responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow federal, state, and School Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Standard high school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of volleyball and ability to impart this knowledge to participants.
  • Computer skills as required for the position.
