About the position

The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer at Armtec Defense Technologies plays a critical role in ensuring the quality and compliance of components sourced from suppliers. This position serves as a technical liaison between suppliers and internal teams, focusing on continuous improvement, compliance, and the effectiveness of Quality Management Systems. The role involves regular travel to supplier locations to conduct audits, evaluate capabilities, and implement corrective actions to enhance supplier performance.

Responsibilities

• Visit supplier facilities to improve relationships and validate corrective actions.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities and quality systems.
• Provide input into supplier performance and selection of new suppliers.
• Ensure compliance of purchased components with specifications and regulations.
• Monitor supplier productivity and address performance concerns.
• Maintain matrices for supplier performance to drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee supplier Corrective Action activities and ensure proper closure.
• Conduct supplier development activities to meet acceptable quality levels.
• Identify and facilitate technical changes for quality, cost, and delivery improvements.
• Develop and deliver presentations for various organizational levels.
• Utilize problem-solving tools in collaboration with suppliers and internal customers.
• Support CAO and NCO supplier quality needs.

Requirements

• Broad experience with DoD processes, products, quality systems, specifications, and requirements.
• Good analytical ability and attention to detail.
• Blueprint and schematic reading skills, including G.D.T.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to influence supplier actions.
• Self-starter with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5Why, and Ishikawa Diagram.
• Familiarity with CAD systems.
