About the position

The Supplier Quality Engineer will act as Quality's primary point of contact for assigned suppliers for all Quality related requirements, issues, and opportunities. This role involves providing oversight and guidance on all supplier quality related processes, work instructions, rating processes, ASL, special processes, audits, surveys, issues, and opportunities, including providing reports to management and customers as required. The engineer is responsible for ensuring that suppliers meet the stringent aerospace quality standards and specifications required by customers, regulatory agencies, and the CPI Quality Management System. The position requires close collaboration with both internal teams and suppliers to drive continuous improvement through corrective and preventive action plans, analysis of performance data, and development of specific improvement plans throughout the supply chain. Additionally, the engineer will establish, develop, and maintain supplier quality system procedures, work instructions, forms, and supporting documentation in compliance with AS9100.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee supplier quality management including updating, developing, and implementing quality assurance processes for supplier selection, evaluation, and performance monitoring.
  • Identify suppliers that are not performing to CPI requirements and work with Supply Chain to conduct supplier audits and complete/update supplier surveys/questionnaires.
  • Ensure suppliers adhere to quality requirements and standards specific to the defense industry and CPI QMS.
  • Conduct supplier audits, reviews, and assessments to verify compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Address and resolve quality issues related to supplier products and processes, investigating root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply chain by analyzing quality metrics and implementing best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product development and ensure seamless integration of supplier components.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant defense industry regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality engineering or supplier quality management, preferably within the defense or aerospace industry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar.
