About the position

The Supplier Quality Engineer serves as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers regarding all quality-related requirements, issues, and opportunities. This role is crucial in ensuring that suppliers meet stringent aerospace quality standards and specifications required by customers and regulatory agencies. The engineer will oversee supplier quality processes, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Quality's primary point of contact for assigned suppliers regarding quality requirements and issues.
  • Provide oversight and guidance on supplier quality processes, work instructions, and audits.
  • Ensure suppliers meet aerospace quality standards and specifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement through corrective and preventive action plans and performance data analysis.
  • Establish and maintain supplier quality system procedures and documentation in compliance with AS9100.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to verify compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve supplier quality documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Address and resolve quality issues related to supplier products and processes.
  • Promote a culture of quality and excellence within the supplier base through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product development and integration of supplier components.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field or equivalent education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in quality engineering or supplier quality management, preferably in the defense or aerospace industry.
  • Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or similar are preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Knowledge of ITAR, EAR, and Nadcap regulations.
