About the position
The Supplier Quality Engineer at Flex is responsible for supplier development in manufacturing processes, focusing on continuous improvement of supplier performance, implementing process controls, and developing quality assurance plans. This role involves collaboration with suppliers to ensure compliance with customer requirements and quality standards, as well as conducting audits and assessments to maintain high-quality components and services.
Responsibilities
- Select suitable suppliers based on quality, capability, pricing, and delivery.
- Implement new supplier qualifications through capability matching and risk assessments.
- Provide value-added engineering proposals to optimize supplier processes.
- Implement PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) for material qualification.
- Track quality performance of new qualified parts during pilot runs.
- Assist suppliers in resolving quality issues and troubleshooting problems.
- Conduct annual maintenance audits for existing suppliers.
- Support suppliers in continuous improvement programs using quality tools.
- Manage ECO/ECN/SCR processes from customers and follow up on required actions.
- Perform quality audits to ensure compliance with ISO and regulatory standards.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with purchasing engineers and suppliers.
- Guide project teams in supplier qualifications and risk identification.
- Rate and track supplier performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Typically requires 6 years of related experience.
- Demonstrates expert functional, technical, and process management skills.
- Strong customer relationship skills, both external and internal.
- Detailed expertise in complex functional areas or broad knowledge across multiple areas.
- Ability to guide and direct projects and business initiatives.
- Financial research and statistical skills to resolve complex goals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Green belt experience in quality management.
