About the position

The Supply Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing accounting functions within the Supply Division at Southeast Milk, Inc. This role involves executing accounting policies, procedures, and control systems to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. The supervisor will manage a team, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial data supporting financial statements and management reports.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting functions within the Supply Division, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Direct and control the team's general accounting activities, including recording transactions and reconciling account balances.
  • Communicate accounting policies clearly to the team and provide necessary support.
  • Manage all Supply Division accounting activities including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, and Order Management.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating Supply Division Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee month-end closing procedures and prepare journal entries for the Supply Division.
  • Prepare and file state and local sales tax returns for all states where SMI conducts business.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation.
  • Mentor and develop Supply Accounting and Admin Staff through training and performance management.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting or a related field from a two-year college or technical school.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience or training in accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience with General Ledgers, Accruals, and Reconciliations.
  • Minimum of one year of experience managing people directly.
  • Knowledge of applicable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Experience with financial ERP software, preferably Microsoft Dynamics SL or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Ability to work independently with general guidance from supervisors.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel, including functions like SUM, sorting, and inserting charts.
  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, and problem-solving skills.
