About the position

The Supply Chain Analyst II at Benchmark Electronics is responsible for executing planning and buying activities to optimize inventory across the supply chain network, ensuring alignment with target customer service levels. This role involves collaboration with customers, managing inventory levels, and utilizing ERP systems to support production schedules and procurement processes. The analyst will also engage in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to cost reduction programs, all while being part of a diverse and inclusive team focused on making a meaningful impact across various sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with customers to understand their planning systems and interactions with Benchmark's processes.
  • Participates on the Customer Focus Team as the Supply Chain Department representative to support planning and procurement processes.
  • Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries while minimizing costs and maximizing turnover.
  • Owns and maintains ERP parameters for component and assembly planning.
  • Monitors and reports on inventory levels and generates action plans to meet site inventory goals.
  • Tracks excess and obsolete inventory and drives disposition in compliance with customer agreements.
  • Performs 'What if' analyses for optimal scheduling and decision making.
  • Analyzes the impact of forecast and production schedule changes on procurement and production volume.
  • Ensures consistency between customer demand, sales forecasts, and production schedules.
  • Works with Scheduler to establish production schedules and resolve discrepancies.
  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, and internal resources to manage AVL choices and reduce costs.
  • Manages EOL and assurance of supply issues, supporting engineering changes and new product introductions.
  • Monitors material market conditions and communicates plans to mitigate risks to customer schedules.
  • Analyzes, maintains, and executes the Materials Requirement Plan (MRP).
  • Continuously verifies materials pipeline to meet MRP requirements and addresses supply issues.
  • Ensures materials availability to support production through MRP execution and coordination of materials movement.
  • Executes and maximizes negotiated terms with suppliers to reduce procurement costs.
  • Maintains integrity of master data and purchasing planning parameters to optimize working capital.
  • Monitors and improves supplier delivery and quality performance.
  • Addresses recurring issues using corrective action tools and coordination with procurement teams.
  • Proactively seeks cost savings through changes in suppliers or materials.
  • Contributes to cost reduction programs with viable recommendations and process improvements.
  • Manages component throughput product life cycle (PLC).
  • Participates in supplier scorecard reviews and customer quarterly business reviews.
  • Creates and maintains tracking tools for cost reduction initiatives and component planning.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years in purchasing or planning accounts/commodities experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or 3 years of experience with a master's degree.
  • Understanding of material procurement, capacity planning, inventory analysis, and advanced planning techniques.
  • Working knowledge of ERP tools (Baan or equivalent).
  • Effective analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups and exercise discretion and independent judgment.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Ability to support a 24/7 global business operation as required.
