As an analyst in supply chain solutions, you will work with clients to plan, execute, and optimize efficient network design and real estate strategies. In this role, you will apply your understanding of supply chain network modeling and transport cost optimization to help organizations improve how real estate effectively supports their business objectives and market growth strategies. You will determine the best location for inventory by conducting greenfield/brownfield assessments of distribution networks, quantify cost impacts, and provide recommendations for future state network design. You will also define strategies for consolidation, restructure, or expansion of supply chain networks, working closely with real estate brokerage on portfolio strategy. Your responsibilities will include recommending the best placement for client and branch facilities to optimize freight spend and reduce overall operating costs while meeting intended customer service targets. You will develop baseline metrics on supply chain components and determine optimal locations for production facilities and distribution centers through network analysis. Additionally, you will calculate freight costs when running “what if” scenarios that account for various shipping costs, perform general net base rate impact studies, and diagnose supply chain challenges while anticipating evolving areas of growth. You will partner to optimize logistics networks and evaluate the impact of proposed logistics changes, conduct diagnostic interviews with operations management personnel at client organizations, and collect, clean, analyze, and validate customer data for supply chain modeling activities. Finally, you will generate client recommendations, develop data visualizations, and present findings to clients, all while building relationships and delivering quality client services.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the best location for inventory by conducting greenfield/brownfield assessments of distribution networks.
  • Quantify cost impact and provide recommendations for future state network design.
  • Define strategies for consolidation, restructure, or expansion of supply chain networks working closely with real estate brokerage on portfolio strategy.
  • Recommend the best placement for client and branch facilities to optimize freight spend and reduce overall operating costs while meeting intended customer service targets.
  • Develop baseline metrics on supply chain components and determine optimal locations for production facilities and distribution centers through network analysis.
  • Calculate freight costs when running 'what if' scenarios that account for TL, LTL, parcel, drayage, transfer, etc. shipping costs.
  • Query shipping rates based on specific tariff, FAK, GRI, class, discount rates, and minimum floor.
  • Perform general net base rate impact studies.
  • Diagnose supply chain challenges, anticipate evolving areas of growth, and ensure prompt support for necessary system, process, and physical improvements.
  • Partner to optimize logistics networks and evaluate the impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, utilization, and carriers across the distribution network.
  • Conduct and participate in diagnostic interviews with operations management personnel at client organizations.
  • Collect, clean, analyze, and validate customer data to be used for supply chain modeling activities.
  • Generate client recommendations for managing future state supply chain operations in MS PowerPoint, develop data visualizations and graphics, and present to clients.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, develop and contribute to presentation materials for executive level transaction reviews and approvals.
  • Build relationships with prospects and client personnel and deliver quality client services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field such as Supply Chain Management/Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, GIS, Data Science, Computer Information Systems, or Business Management.
  • Certification from professional supply chain organizations (CSCMP, APICS, ISM) preferred if candidate's degree does not match those specified.
  • 3+ years as a supply chain analyst, logistics engineer, or industrial engineer with a third-party logistics firm (3PL), a management consulting firm, industrial manufacturer/distributor, retailer, or consumer products manufacturer with a focus on network design.
  • Advanced user of MS Excel, MS Visio, MS PowerPoint.
  • Mastery of various Microsoft tools including but not limited to Power BI (Power Automate & Power Automate Flow), Project, Project Online, Teams, MS Office, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to perform data analytics with any of the following: Python, SQL, JavaScript, R, VBA, or Alteryx.
  • Commercial real estate experience is a plus but not required.
  • Demand planning and inventory management experience.
  • Supply chain network optimization and/or site selection analysis via Coupa LLamasoft Supply Chain Guru, AIMMS, Blue Yonder/JDA supply chain management (SCM), Starboard Navigator or comparable application are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems like SAP, Oracle, or other supply chain management software.
  • Knowledge of GIS tools such as the ESRI suite or QGIS is beneficial but not required.
  • Distribution and/or fulfillment center design via AutoCAD, Draftsight or comparable application is a plus but not required.
  • Understanding of distribution/fulfillment center functional processes.
  • Experience with a transportation management system (TMS) provider.
  • Inventory optimization modeling, transportation modeling/route optimization.
  • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organizational, visualization, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated writing skills; ability to write concisely and effectively.
  • Ability to create, articulate, and effectively present information.
  • Must listen actively and attentively, capturing accurately and completely relevant and valuable information.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents and data sets.
  • Able to track and support concurrent projects at various stages.
