About the position

The Supply Chain Associate (Material Handling) is responsible for a variety of activities related to the receiving, distributing, storing, dispensing, inventory control, and shipping of materials. This role ensures compliance with company standards of quality, customer service, safety, and productivity while managing materials such as samples, supplies, and controlled substances.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving, distributing, storing, dispensing, inventory control, and shipping of materials.
  • Load and unload freight safely and efficiently.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Verify contents of materials received under purchase orders.
  • Report shortages, damages, and incorrect shipments.
  • Enter purchase order, sample, and inventory receipts into internal systems.
  • Prepare logs for P-Card, Internet orders, and freight receipts.
  • Deliver materials or samples to proper locations.
  • Ensure proper rotation and organization of stock and participate in physical inventories.
  • Trace problems related to discrepancies and work with Buyers to resolve them.
  • Confirm internal stock requisitions and pick requested items accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and assist in warehouse security.
  • Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.
  • Perform routine and non-routine activities in the mail room.
  • Assist with preparing document and dangerous goods shipments.
  • Maintain accurate records in the area of responsibility and forward them to designated personnel.
  • Provide information to internal customers about departmental policies and SOPs.
  • Understand cost factors and suggest cost-effective alternatives.
  • Work closely with internal personnel to maintain understanding of controlled substance handling.
  • Manage time and tasks independently under minimal supervision.
  • Recognize unusual situations and act or notify supervisor as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of continuous work history with previous receiving and customer service experience in a distribution or warehouse environment.
  • Verifiable past training and experience operating forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks safely.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Personal computer skills required, with some experience in spreadsheet development preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds routinely.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certifications in DOT/IATA training preferred.
  • Work experience using Bar Code/Inventory Control Tracking equipment.
  • Work experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor preferred.
