About the position

The Supply Chain Inventory Services Intern position at SpartanNash is a paid, full-time summer internship designed for active students pursuing careers in the grocery industry. This role provides exposure to the grocery and distribution sectors, engaging interns in real-world problem-solving and offering social and educational opportunities. The internship runs from May 19th, 2025, to August 8th, 2025, and includes responsibilities such as inventory analysis, collaboration with vendors, and participation in strategic projects.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze minimum order quantity and vendor minimum guaranteed shelf-life days and their impact on shrink.
  • Collaborate with National Accounts vendors to identify unproductive inventory and reduce shrink on their items.
  • Complete at-risk inventory reporting to identify items approaching their code date that could likely result in shrink.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to objectives.
  • Complete or participate in at least one strategic project (Capstone Project) during the internship and possibly present to the executive team.
  • Participate in learning opportunities including warehouse and retail store tours, and community service events.
  • Attend weekly professional development workshops for skill development and team building.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Finance, Operations Management, Management Information Systems, or Business Administration.
  • Be an active student through the summer.
  • Graduate December 2025 or later.
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater (Preferred).
  • Relevant work experience such as a prior internship or campus experience (Preferred).
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Required).
  • Intermediate experience in LOOKUP functions and pivot tables within Microsoft Excel (Required).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • Resilience to overcome obstacles.
  • Driven and demonstrates a bias for action.
  • Highly collaborative.
