About the position

The Supply Chain Inventory Services (OS&D) Intern at SpartanNash is a paid, full-time summer internship designed for students pursuing a career in the grocery industry. This role provides exposure to the grocery and distribution sectors, engaging interns in real-world problem-solving and offering opportunities for social and educational interactions with peers. The internship runs from May 19th, 2025, to August 8th, 2025, and includes responsibilities such as processing claims, maintaining communication with stakeholders, and participating in strategic projects.

Responsibilities

  • Process Over, Short, and Damage (OS&D) claims in Salesforce using decision trees for action paths and communication with vendors, brokers, warehouses, and carriers.
  • Maintain group email boxes in Microsoft Outlook, providing support to customers, vendors, brokers, and distribution centers.
  • Review documentation and reporting for accuracy using various query and database systems.
  • Communicate findings to key stakeholders.
  • Consolidate and analyze data from multiple sources to summarize key findings, identify trends, and assess potential risks impacting operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to contribute to objectives.
  • Complete or participate in at least one strategic project (Capstone Project) during the internship and possibly present to the executive team.
  • Participate in learning opportunities including warehouse and retail store tours, and community service events.
  • Attend weekly professional development workshops for skill development and team building.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Be an active student through the summer.
  • Graduate December 2025 or later.
  • Willingness to attend mandatory in-person events in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater (Preferred).
  • Relevant work experience such as a prior internship or campus experience (Preferred).
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Required).
  • Advanced Excel Knowledge (Preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations.
  • Resilience to overcome obstacles.
  • Driven and demonstrates a bias for action.
  • Highly collaborative.

Nice-to-haves
