About the position

The Supply Chain & Logistics Lead at Spincraft will play a crucial role in managing and directing the daily execution of transportation logistics for parts to and from subcontractors, as well as shipments to customers from our Commerce facility and third-party vendors. This position reports directly to the Materials Manager and encompasses a variety of responsibilities that ensure the smooth operation of logistics and production planning within a union environment. The successful candidate will supervise and direct the activities of shipping and receiving, ensuring that all processes are executed efficiently and in compliance with company policies. In addition to logistics management, the Supply Chain & Logistics Lead will be responsible for production planning and scheduling, managing the perpetual inventory system, and providing necessary assistance to the Materials Team. This includes coordinating the most economical transportation services for Spincraft parts, executing the flow of paperwork for incoming receipts and outgoing shipments, and monitoring inventory levels of shipping supplies. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, as the Lead will analyze supply and demand to release jobs in economical quantities and monitor the status of work-in-process jobs to identify any issues that may arise. The position also involves utilizing the ERP system to manage the efficient flow of jobs through production facilities, ensuring that all inventory-related transactions are posted promptly. The Supply Chain & Logistics Lead will be responsible for managing the filing and paperwork flow of job routings, conducting regular cycle counts of WIP items, and preparing for the annual physical inventory. Additionally, the Lead will manage the disposal of scrap materials and participate in various departmental and company meetings, vendor meetings, and trade shows as needed. This role requires a high level of energy and effort to drive process improvements and a collaborative spirit to work effectively with other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the activities of shipping and receiving in the Commerce facility.
  • Coordinate the most economical and/or expedient transportation services for Spincraft parts to be delivered to domestic and international customers or to third party subcontract vendors.
  • Execute the flow of paperwork of incoming receipts and outgoing shipments, ensuring transactions are recorded timely and accurately.
  • Monitor inventory of shipping supplies and coordinate purchases to ensure customer delivery requirements are met.
  • Create and own job routing instructions for Manufacturing employees, maintaining and documenting changes in a timely fashion.
  • Analyze supply and demand to release jobs in economical quantities with adequate due dates to support on-time delivery.
  • Monitor status of work-in-process jobs to identify problems with shortages or overages, and communicate with appropriate parties to develop solutions.
  • Utilize the ERP system to manage the efficient flow of jobs through production facilities after non-conformances are identified.
  • Post inventory-related transactions promptly, including receipts to stock and issuances to jobs.
  • Review completed jobs for missing transactions and post transactions accordingly.
  • Manage the filing/paperwork flow of job routings upon completion.
  • Manage the inventory of tooling and implement/maintain a system for locating tools.
  • Assist with regular cycle counts of WIP items and prepare for annual physical inventory with minimal quantity adjustments.
  • Manage the disposal of scrap materials, including sending to salvage yard regularly.
  • Attend department and company meetings and participate in vendor meetings, trade shows, trainings, etc. as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or other related degree.
  • 3-5 years of logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2-4 years of production planning experience, preferably in a job shop environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of international shipping requirements.
  • Ability to flex schedule to accommodate business needs, particularly the last week of each month.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Epicor strongly preferred.
  • Strong preference for prior contract manufacturing experience, as well as third party logistics.
  • A high-level of energy and effort to drive process improvements.
