About the position

The Supply Chain Logistics Tech position at Parkland Health and Hospital System is a full-time role focused on ensuring the efficient management of supplies and equipment within a healthcare setting. The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for receiving, inspecting, inventorying, and delivering supplies throughout the hospital system, prioritizing safety, efficiency, and customer service. This role requires a systematic approach and attention to detail, as well as the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment to support patient care effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, unpack, inspect and store incoming materials and supplies, verifying accuracy against authorized documents.
  • Conduct quality checks ensuring packaging integrity and sterility for all orders.
  • Identify and report discrepancies or damage of orders to request return material authorization/credit memorandum.
  • Assist in unloading shipments from delivery trucks using dollies, forklifts, and other moving equipment.
  • Prepare and process outbound parcels for domestic and international shipping.
  • Maintain accurate stock balances and perform daily transactional tasks within the ERP system.
  • Operate in a high-paced environment to support internal customer requirements in a timely manner.
  • Resolve and fulfill all customer requests and inquiries, escalating as required.
  • Maintain detailed understanding of product quantities and quality shipping requirements.
  • Prioritize the flow of orders and coordinate delivery with focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Distribute supplies and equipment throughout the hospital and maintain accountability through automated tracking systems.
  • Contact distributors regarding shipment delays and report major discrepancies to management.
  • Manage asset records for capital equipment from cradle to grave.
  • Identify and create records for capital assets and verify taggable asset codes prior to receiving.
  • Adhere to the tagging process for equipment to create records for the inventory database.
  • Match quantity and product description with label description for accurate order fulfillment.
  • Adjust company software as necessary to keep physical inventory in balance with perpetual inventory.
  • Perform cycle inventory counts and organize scheduled physical inventories with management guidance.
  • Perform ERP transactions for received goods and distribute materials appropriately.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Maintain and ensure all material-handling equipment is properly maintained.
  • Ensure working area is secure, clean, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Drive to locations within the Parkland Health and Hospital System as required.
  • Perform clerical duties as needed by the leadership team.
  • Identify ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction, making recommendations to supervisors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of three years of Logistics/Supply Chain Management experience, preferably in the Healthcare Industry.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems.
  • Experience in scanning/barcoding using RFID & RTLS Systems.
  • Strong customer service skills and a customer-centric attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
