About the position

As the Supply Chain Manager at Maersk, you will play a pivotal role in the logistics and operations of JCB's new plant in San Antonio, Texas. This position is integral to developing and implementing comprehensive logistics strategies that align with the operational needs of the plant. You will be responsible for analyzing supply chain networks, recommending optimal transportation routes, and managing vendor and carrier relationships to ensure cost-effective and reliable logistics solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in overseeing inventory and transportation management, where you will implement control measures to optimize inventory levels and develop transportation plans that maximize efficiency. In addition to logistics strategy development, you will oversee warehouse operations, ensuring best practices in receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping activities. You will monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track logistics performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Your role will also involve financial visibility and stakeholder management, where you will support budgeting and forecasting activities while building strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders. As a leader, you will cultivate a team culture of ownership and continuous improvement, driving engagement through coaching and development. You will be responsible for hiring processes and talent development, ensuring a robust succession plan and growth for your team. Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive logistics strategies to support the operational needs of the new plant, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
  • Analyze supply chain networks and recommend optimal transportation routes, warehouse locations, and distribution channels to streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Evaluate and select vendors, carriers, and third-party logistics providers (3PLs) based on performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Implement inventory control measures to optimize inventory levels, minimize stockouts, and reduce carrying costs while ensuring product availability and order fulfillment.
  • Develop transportation plans and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize transportation costs.
  • Oversee warehouse processes and collaborate with the operations team to ensure best practices in receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping activities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track logistics performance, identify trends, and measure the effectiveness of logistics initiatives.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities and follow up on billing needs for the account.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure adequate support and view JCB as a partner of choice.
  • Cultivate a team culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management and logistics, preferably within a 3PL logistics consulting firm or global corporation.
  • Consultative experience in logistics demonstrating a customer-centric mindset in direct customer engagements.
  • Subject matter expertise in supply chains of major industry verticals, with a preference for industrial or automotive sectors.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in business, supply chain, or a similar discipline is required.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Multilingual abilities are highly desirable.
  • Expertise in supply chain modeling and analysis, with a good knowledge of supply chain optimization methodologies and tools.
  • Competence in creating written business case recommendations encompassing financial, service, risk, and sustainability factors.
  • Familiarity with Maersk policies and processes, and all applicable Maersk systems and processes.
  • Experience in managing large operations/customer service teams in the logistics sector.
  • Understanding of legal and commercial frameworks related to contracts of carriage for air, FCL, LCL, intermodal transport, and international trade.
