About the position

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Supply Chain Manager to support our development teams and contract manufacturing partners in the sourcing of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). This role will support our Automotive, Tesla Energy, Batteries, and/or any other projects intrinsic to the successful running of the organization. The Supply Chain Manager will report to our Supply Chain Group Manager and will also serve as an active sourcing resource supporting various Engineering groups within Tesla. As the owner of RFQs, the Supply Chain Manager will ensure that all commercial terms are agreed upon and documented. This includes negotiating and implementing Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts. The role involves driving the piece price and tooling negotiation process to ensure that Tesla's commodity pricing meets Best-In-Class expectations while adhering to Supplier Industrialization standards of Best-In-Class quality. Additionally, the Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for driving continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through ad-hoc price negotiations. The position requires addressing all areas of category management, including category business plans, market conditions, technology roadmaps, cost modeling, and sourcing strategies. The Supply Chain Manager will monitor global industry trends, track technology roadmaps, and actively partner with Design teams to identify and mitigate supply and demand challenges. Managing supplier relationships and performance is crucial, including dispute resolution, supplier scorecards, and periodic business reviews. Participation in Design for Manufacturability reviews with Engineering partners and prospective suppliers is essential, as is the ability to understand technical drawings and specifications, along with a basic knowledge of manufacturing process controls and quality assurance for their commodity space. The Supply Chain Manager will lead cross-functional teams to manage project timelines, developing and maintaining action trackers, Gantt charts, and other program management tools related to the on-time delivery of supplier parts against Program timing. Effective communication of key supply, cost, and/or quality issues with management teams is vital, as is the development of corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks. Building and maintaining relationships with cross-functional teams and influencing timely decisions with key stakeholders to support Tesla's mission is a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain management, or commodity management associated with Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and raw materials for PCB manufacturing.
  • Technical & commercial understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes of PCBs.
  • Experience with PCB engineering concepts related to the commodity and ability to generate bottom-up should costs based on the understanding of manufacturing process.
  • Proficient knowledge of technical requirements & design of the product and ability to influence cross-functional partners with detailed analysis that supports optimized pricing and product sourcing decisions.
  • Excellent negotiator.
  • Analytical with ability to build out Should-Cost models and cost forecasts.
