About the position

Tesla is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Global Supply Manager to support our development teams and contract manufacturing partners in sourcing Direct Supply Chain components and parts. This role is crucial for ensuring that the components related to our automobiles, Tesla Energy, Batteries, and other essential parts are sourced effectively to support the successful operation of the organization. The Global Supply Manager will report to the Supply Chain Group Manager and will actively support various Engineering groups within Tesla. In this dynamic and fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategies that provide Tesla with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance. Building and leveraging strong working relationships with engineering teams and key suppliers is essential to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets. The role requires a self-starter who is motivated and possesses expert overall sourcing expertise. Key responsibilities include managing RFI's, RFP's, and RFQ's, ensuring all commercial terms are agreed upon and documented, leading the vendor selection process, driving price negotiations, and monitoring current category market conditions. The Global Supply Manager will analyze current spend, evaluate suppliers, and develop sourcing alternatives to create leverage and improve service levels. This position is integral to achieving maximum advantage for Tesla and its customers, emphasizing flexibility and adaptability as key attributes for success.

Responsibilities

  • Owner of RFI's, RFP's and RFQ's - ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented
  • Ensures NDA, SOW's and Master Purchase Agreement are positioned appropriately before business is initiated
  • Lead the vendor selection process with engineering teams
  • Drive price negotiations processes to ensure that Tesla's commodity pricing are best in class
  • Drive continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through ad hoc price negotiations
  • Monitor current category market conditions, technology roadmaps and identify supply/demand challenges & opportunities
  • Analyze current spend and evaluate current suppliers
  • Consolidate spend across supply base to create leverage, analyze purchasing trends and develop sourcing alternatives
  • Identify new high potential suppliers on global basis
  • Develop key performance measures for chosen suppliers and negotiate on multiple variables to award longer-term strategic contracts that result in significant cost reduction and improved service levels
  • Develop spend strategies, identify potential suppliers, analyze supplier capabilities, select suppliers and determine prices, terms, and conditions of agreements

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of costing concepts, cost reduction, modeling, etc.
