About the position

The Supply Chain Manager Trainee at Clark Associates Companies is a pivotal role designed to support the management of various operational segments within the supply chain. This position works closely with the Manager and Assistant Manager to oversee inbound, inventory, safety, and outbound operations. Key responsibilities include managing processes related to receiving, picking, packing, consolidating, shipping, inventory control, and returns, while ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance protocols. The Manager Trainee is expected to develop new tools and resources that enhance productivity and contribute to the overall growth of the business. In this role, the Manager Trainee will build and maintain extensive knowledge of operational procedures and protocols, focusing on implementing improvements that increase efficiency and customer satisfaction. The position also involves supporting training needs in relevant areas, ensuring that current employees maintain a high level of proficiency. The Manager Trainee will be actively engaged in day-to-day decision-making processes regarding the input, movement, processing, and output of operations, with the goal of enhancing quality, inventory accuracy, and service levels. The role requires regular monitoring of departmental metrics, identifying and resolving operational issues, and providing clear communication to all teams regarding productivity and company policies. The Manager Trainee will also engage with employees to promote a positive work environment and ensure adherence to safety regulations. Participation in management meetings to discuss metrics, improvements, and employee relations is also a key aspect of this position. Overall, the Supply Chain Manager Trainee is a dynamic role that requires a proactive approach to operational management and employee engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management of day-to-day decisions regarding the input, movement, process, and output of operations to ensure increased quality, inventory accuracy and service.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for assigned departments; identify and resolve operating issues as needed, including support of corrective actions and progressive discipline process.
  • Provide clear and frequent communication to all teams regarding department productivity, Company policies and procedures.
  • Actively engage in 'MBWA' or managing by walking around and serve as a role model of Company culture.
  • Support staffing needs for assigned departments to ensure operating metrics are met consistently; may include the coordination of shift change bids and related programs.
  • Interact with employees regularly to promote a high level of engagement and ensure all safety regulations / rules are followed.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly manager meetings to share information including metrics review, areas of improvement, employee relations issues, and updates on quarterly initiatives and related projects.
  • Maintain a high level of operating knowledge and positive employee relations by working at minimum one day each month with each department and/or shift.
  • Analyze opportunities for improvement including productivity growth, cost reduction, damage mitigation, and increased process efficiency.
  • Serve as a back-up when a department line manager is absent.
  • Other duties as assigned.
