About the position

As a Supply Chain Manager at Spartan Tool, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing our overall supply chain and logistics strategy and operations. Your primary objective will be to maximize process efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness across all supply chain functions. This position requires a strategic mindset and the ability to collaborate with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives. In this role, you will manage a multi-functional team responsible for the planning of procurement and supply chain activities. This includes overseeing purchasing, inventory management, compliance, logistics, and distribution. You will lead the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) processes to ensure that all supply chain operations function effectively, avoiding costly delays and lost opportunities. Your responsibilities will encompass strategic procurement, where you will implement sourcing strategies, evaluate suppliers, manage supplier relationships, and ensure quality management and performance measurement. You will also take full responsibility for inventory management, ensuring that the main warehouse in Niles and the Territory Managers' location warehouses operate efficiently. This includes implementing inventory management strategies, leading cycle count programs, and preparing inventory forecasts and reports. Compliance with local and international laws and regulations will be a critical aspect of your role, ensuring that all supply chain operations adhere to necessary standards. Logistics and distribution will also fall under your purview, where you will oversee the transportation of goods, manage relationships with carriers and third-party logistics providers, and supervise warehousing operations. You will be responsible for optimizing the distribution network to enhance delivery times and reduce transportation costs. Additionally, you will organize and lead regular SIOP meetings, collaborating with various teams to forecast demand and manage material requirements effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the overall supply chain strategy in collaboration with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Manage the entire process and a multi-functional team in the planning of procurement and supply chain activities, including purchasing, inventory management, compliance, logistics and distribution, and leading SIOP processes.
  • Implement strategic procurement including sourcing strategy, supplier selection and evaluation, quality management, supplier relationship management, performance measurement, and risk assessment.
  • Manage and monitor all transactional procurement including inquiry, evaluation, contracting, contract management, legal considerations, payment conditions, and trade agreement maintenance in D365 system.
  • Ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality materials and services at the best possible cost, supporting production needs and strategic objectives while maintaining minimum inventory levels to meet customer and production demand.
  • Coordinate and support accounts payable team on vendor payments.
  • Take full responsibility for inventory management for the main warehouse in Niles as well as the Territory Managers' location warehouses.
  • Implement and manage inventory management strategies, including safety stock, minimum quantity, and replenishment processes in the MRP system (specifically D365).
  • Lead the cycle count certificate program and manage a cycle count team and the daily cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Lead the preparation and conducting of annual physical inventory, coordinate with external audit.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory plans/forecasts and progress reports.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws, regulations including customs and trade compliance, and standards related to supply chain operations and safety.
  • Oversee the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency, including managing relationships with carriers and third-party logistics providers.
  • Supervise warehousing operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, and shipping, ensuring warehouses operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Manage the distribution network to optimize delivery times and reduce transportation costs.
  • Organize and lead regular SIOP meetings involving key stakeholders from sales, marketing, finance, operations, and supply chain.
  • Collaborate with sales team to forecast demand and utilize MRP system to manage material requirements planning and optimize inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure timely production scheduling and materials availability.
  • Work with finance teams to forecast the financial impact of SIOP plans.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Supply Chain Manager or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain processes, including procurement, inventory management, logistics, and distribution.
  • Experience with MRP systems, specifically D365, and inventory management software.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a multi-functional team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of local and international laws and regulations related to supply chain operations and safety.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCP) is a plus.
  • Experience in the sewer and drain cleaning equipment industry or related fields.
  • Familiarity with customs and trade compliance regulations.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
