About the position

The Supply Chain Manager at Straus Family Creamery is responsible for establishing and directing the organization's supply chain policies and strategic objectives. This role is crucial in optimizing supply chain operations, ensuring sustainability, and supporting the company's mission-driven ethos. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, particularly in the perishable food industry, and will work closely with various teams to enhance procurement processes, inventory controls, and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee supply chain operations including sourcing and procurement of materials, supplies, and services.
  • Work with stakeholders to establish and implement supply chain policies and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Production to manage order flow and forecast potential issues.
  • Develop effective inventory management and cost reduction procedures with operations and production teams.
  • Cultivate positive business relationships with logistics customers and vendors.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to improve service and manage costs.
  • Establish and control departmental budgets and ensure projects are on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Oversee training and development of direct reports and ensure safety compliance.
  • Communicate companywide sustainability goals and manage resources accordingly.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in supply chain management in the perishable food industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related field.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and experience in coaching and developing others.
  • Extensive knowledge of inventory control and purchasing requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and ERP systems.
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of organic certification standards and regulations.
  • Experience with national contracts and managing concurrent projects.
