About the position

As the Supply Chain Manager at PPG, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of various supply chain functions, including purchasing, production scheduling, distribution, and inventory management. Your primary responsibility will be to lead a team of supply chain professionals in understanding customer demand and translating that into a production schedule that optimizes plant capacity while ensuring that working capital requirements are met. You will coordinate with the corporate supply chain team to analyze long-term demand forecasts and assess their impact on plant capacity and inventory levels. Additionally, you will collaborate with Operations and Corporate Supply Chain to effectively manage both planned and unplanned outages related to raw material supply, production scheduling, and customer supply management. In this role, you will monitor the attainment of planned schedules and address any overages or shortfalls by communicating with the appropriate supply chain and customer service personnel. You will be responsible for managing all finished goods inventory across all warehouses, including imported products, with a focus on minimizing yield loss and the risk of product obsolescence. Ensuring that inventory levels are accurately reflected in SAP, including proper designations for good and non-conforming materials, will be a key aspect of your duties. You will also maintain safety stocks for unique customer/product combinations as required by sales and supply chain teams to meet specific customer needs. Effective communication with Commercial, Customer Service, and Traffic personnel will be essential to address conflicts or material shortages that could lead to late shipments. You will coordinate the warehousing of products and incoming shipments of finished goods while managing the associated supply chain costs. Supporting plant and supply chain personnel with forecasting initiatives on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis will also be part of your responsibilities. You will work collaboratively with supply chain personnel to establish performance measurements that enhance visibility and track the continuous improvement of the supply chain function. Furthermore, you will engage with SAP Competency Center personnel to better understand SAP functionality and explore how it can be leveraged to enhance plant supply chain capabilities and improve efficiency. Identifying SAP or alternative IT solutions to automate routine tasks will be crucial in allowing for more efficient analysis and improved business results, ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction.
