The Supply Chain Manager at Master Boat Builders, INC. is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the supply chain department, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services essential for shipbuilding. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of procurement processes, team leadership, and compliance with maritime industry standards and regulations. The Supply Chain Manager will develop and implement procurement policies tailored to the shipyard's needs, streamline workflows, and enhance efficiency while reducing costs. In addition to procurement management, the role involves leading a team of procurement and materials management professionals. The Supply Chain Manager will mentor team members, set performance goals, and foster a collaborative environment that promotes high performance. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers in the maritime industry is crucial, as is negotiating contracts and monitoring supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards. Cost management is another critical aspect of this role. The Supply Chain Manager will identify opportunities for cost savings, conduct cost analysis, and implement strategies to optimize procurement costs while maintaining quality. Compliance with company policies and maritime regulations is essential, as is risk management related to the procurement process. The manager will also oversee warehouse and inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels and collaborating with project management teams to guarantee material availability for shipbuilding projects. Reporting and analysis are integral to the position, as the Supply Chain Manager will prepare reports on procurement activities and provide insights to senior management based on data analysis. Additionally, the role requires staying updated with technological advancements in procurement systems and recommending improvements to enhance procurement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and oversee procurement policies and procedures specific to the shipyard.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement and materials management professionals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers in the maritime industry.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in the procurement process.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, maritime industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Manage warehouse/materials team and collaborate with inventory management teams.
  • Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, supplier performance, and cost savings.
  • Ensure that procurement systems are used effectively to support procurement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a management role, preferably in the maritime or shipbuilding industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Purchasing (e.g., CPM, CPSM) is a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of the shipbuilding and repair industry, including materials, equipment, and regulatory requirements.
