About the position

The Supply Chain Manager (SCM) is responsible for establishing and directing the organization's supply chain policies, strategic objectives, and initiatives. This role is crucial in ensuring that supply chain practices align with the company's commitment to sustainability, quality, and community support. The SCM will develop, implement, and coordinate projects to optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and manage continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes, inventory controls, and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee supply chain operations including sourcing and procurement of materials, supplies, and services.
  • Work with key stakeholders to establish and implement supply chain policies, goals, and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Production regarding order flow processes and forecasting delays or product issues.
  • Develop effective inventory management and cost reduction procedures in collaboration with operations, production, quality, and sustainability teams.
  • Cultivate positive business relationships with logistics customers and vendors.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to identify service and revenue improvement opportunities.
  • Establish and control departmental budget estimates and expenditures for supply chain projects.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and maintain quality and regulatory training programs.
  • Oversee training and development of direct reports and manage performance evaluations.
  • Communicate companywide sustainability goals and manage resources to meet or exceed these goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in supply chain management in the perishable food industry.
  • Knowledge of organic certification standards and regulations is a plus.
  • Effective leadership capabilities with a proven ability in coaching and developing others.
  • Extensive knowledge of inventory control and purchasing requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, CRM software, HRIS software, and ERP/Business Central platform.
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with sustainability practices in supply chain management.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
