The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of personnel engaged in procurement, production planning, and inventory administration. This role is crucial in ensuring that the supply chain operates efficiently and effectively, meeting both customer service needs and company inventory objectives. The manager will actively participate in planning safety and protection activities, determining labor requirements necessary to support the operational plan, and driving inventory improvement efforts for raw materials, finished goods, and component inventories. Key responsibilities include reviewing, substantiating, and authorizing purchase orders and forecasts, directing operational activities and procedures such as the verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, and handling the disposition of materials. The Supply Chain Manager will also formulate changes to enhance savings in freight, warehousing, procurement, and labor, while negotiating with trucking companies, third-party logistics providers, and vendors to secure the most favorable prices and terms for the company. Additionally, the manager will regularly verify the efficiency and economy of routing and modes of transportation for specific lanes and customers, quote freight rates for specific projects, and manage the development and adherence to purchasing procedures. This role involves managing vendor relationships, contributing to the negotiation of fulfillment contracts, and initiating changes to improve control and efficiency across all Supply Chain Departments. The manager will analyze market and delivery conditions to determine material availability and minimize costs associated with freight handling, fuel, and storage constraints. The Supply Chain Manager will also be responsible for developing methods and procedures for the transportation of raw goods to production areas, finished goods to customers, and specific items to auxiliary storage facilities. They will initiate and settle claims against the company for damaged or short-shipped freight and determine the master planning schedule. Furthermore, the manager will drive approval programs for suppliers of designated raw materials and facility chemicals, ensuring compliance with annual reapproval processes. The role also includes preparing the department budget and performing any other duties as assigned by management.
