About the position

The Supply Chain Manager at STERIS is responsible for leading procurement activities, inventory control, and material flow within a lean environment. This role focuses on developing supply chain agility, generating cash flow, and ensuring optimal material availability to meet customer needs. The manager will supervise a team, drive sourcing initiatives, and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve site-specific goals and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Support all site and business HSE policies.
  • Supervise a team of buyers and sourcing specialists, and other associated roles.
  • Drive a culture of accountability and results through routine management and effective performance management.
  • Lead overall sourcing initiatives to minimize risk, reduce costs, and ensure best value continuity of supply.
  • Ensure products and services are supplied on time and with good quality to meet customer needs.
  • Lead team activities to meet site goals for spend aggregation, supplier consolidation, rationalization, and segmentation.
  • Drive KPI results supporting the Supply Chain Strategy goals.
  • Leverage and manage supplier relationships and performance.
  • Identify continuous improvement activities to increase efficiency and reduce costs of internal procurement processes and systems.
  • Ensure team compliance with STERIS policies and procedures, and government requirements.
  • Ensure alignment and communication with other functional leaders.
  • Support the Demand Plan through material and component procurement to meet business demand, customer service, and site cost and productivity goals.
  • Facilitate problem solving utilizing critical thinking and lean methodologies.
  • Own and drive business and site working capital goals through coordination between procurement, planning, and production.
  • Interface with internal and external warehouses and suppliers to ensure proper logistics to support plant and business initiatives.
  • Support accuracy of inventory counts and physical inventories by managing an inventory control system.
  • Manage the requisition of all direct and indirect materials and services required to support production schedules and meet incoming quality requirements.
  • Participate as a key member of the Plant operations team, serving as the voice of the purchasing team.
  • Employ data analysis and information technology to improve Division performance.
  • Create development plans for sourcing/procurement team members and ensure a talent pipeline is in place for key functions.
  • Analyze inventories and develop plans to balance Inventory % of Sales and optimize customer service.
  • Establish and implement standard re-order and delivery procedures.
  • Manage levels of item data accuracy relating to procurement and suppliers.
  • Manage the division operational inventory to ensure adequate stocking levels for immediate production items and forecasting for future requirements.
  • Negotiate long-term contracts in coordination with group staff and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field.
  • Six (6) to eight (8) years of experience working in Supply Chain, manufacturing, and/or industrial environment.
  • Experience in all aspects of end-to-end Supply Chain including contract negotiations, commodity-based materials management, project management, and commercial analytics.
  • Excellent knowledge of office applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project management tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in a related technical field, preferred.
  • ISM or ASCM certification, preferred.
  • Regulated business environment experience, preferred.
  • First-line supervisory experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment, preferred.
