The Supply Chain Manager position at DHL Global Forwarding in Newark, New Jersey, is designed to ensure service excellence, optimize productivity, and effectively utilize team resources. The role involves promoting and monitoring efficiency and productivity gains for customers managed within the team. As a leader, the Supply Chain Manager will allocate team resources effectively to ensure operational excellence and motivate staff through effective leadership and career-pathing. This position serves as a point of contact and escalation for customers, providing coaching on operational processes, internal tools, best practices, and quality guidelines to constantly improve processes in alignment with the overall Account Management team. Additionally, the manager will promote new functionalities for current customers in collaboration with the Business Solutions, Business Development, and IT teams. Key accountabilities include directing the team in completing assignments through knowledge sharing, providing direction and decision support, and managing staff training and development to promote operational excellence. The manager will also oversee team resources, including hiring, discipline, and termination, while addressing HR-related issues such as monitoring vacations and executing performance reviews. Regular staff briefings will ensure that relevant management information is disseminated among team members. Operationally, the Supply Chain Manager will ensure compliance with customer and OMS requirements, maintain regular customer contact, and conduct operations reviews. They will manage customer relationships at the management level and act as the escalation contact for assigned customers. The role requires reviewing, defining, and implementing new processes for continuous improvement and operational excellence. The manager will also oversee timely updates of SOPs and ensure that reporting improvements are driven through various channels. This includes monitoring high-level performance for accounts and training team members on reporting needs. The position requires a high level of commitment, the ability to work under pressure, and strong leadership skills to motivate and support staff. A comprehensive understanding of supply chain management, PO management, and 3PL/4PL service types is essential, along with strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, with a Master's degree being a plus, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management with progressive growth in responsibility.
