About the position

The Supply Chain Operations Associate at Ryder is a pivotal role responsible for managing operational functions related to the General Motors LLP Account. This position requires independent decision-making skills concerning material availability and inventory control, ensuring that production requirements are met without interruption. The associate will follow up on all purchased parts to guarantee timely shipment and delivery performance, acting as the main point of contact for suppliers. This includes providing clear direction regarding shipping schedules and containment plans when delays occur, as well as making critical decisions on timing for supplier shipments to maintain inventory coverage at the plant. In addition to tracking critical parts, the associate will develop and execute containment plans to prevent any disruptions to the manufacturing line. This involves coordinating alternative sources of material and managing requests for spot buys when necessary. The role also includes independent monitoring and management of truck loads for material pick-up, ensuring that material coverage is maintained at the lowest possible cost. The associate will review part buffers to confirm they meet build requirements and document any exceptions, taking appropriate actions based on root-cause analysis. The position demands a high level of organization and the ability to maintain accurate inventory levels, making necessary adjustments based on thorough investigation and analysis. The associate will also handle record adjustment requests from previous shifts, ensuring seamless operations within the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Follow-up on all purchased parts to ensure shipment and on-time delivery performance to support production requirements.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all suppliers, providing direction regarding ship schedule requirements and containment plans when behind schedule.
  • Track critical parts and develop/execute containment plans to ensure no interruptions or downtime to the manufacturing line.
  • Coordinate and/or arrange for alternative sources of material and requests for spot buys as necessary.
  • Independently monitor, set up, and cancel truck loads for material pick-up to support schedule variations.
  • Ensure proper material coverage at the lowest possible cost for the customer.
  • Review part buffers to determine that they cover build requirements.
  • Document and manage S and AV code exceptions, including Alarm Interval maintenance.
  • Determine root-cause and take appropriate action for MGO Data Maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels in MGO, making appropriate adjustments where necessary.
  • Investigate and process any record adjustment requests from the previous shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One (1) year or more administrative experience preferred.
  • Five (5) years or more relevant experience strongly recommended.
