About the position

As a Supply Chain Operations Manager at JCPenney, you will play a pivotal role in leading the department's associates by creating and sharing a common vision and direction that aligns with the organization's strategy. Your primary responsibility will be to communicate effectively and collaborate with managers and associates across various areas to manage and accomplish the operational objectives of the department and the overall unit. You will support and coordinate with managers at all levels to achieve the goals and objectives of the unit and other parts of the supply chain, ensuring that all processes are performed timely, with quality and effectiveness within your area of responsibility. In this role, you will direct your team on activities and processes that enable our strategy of CustomerFirst Service, ensuring that merchandise is delivered to customers accurately and on time, the first time. You will be responsible for planning and managing the programs and activities of the assigned department, ensuring that complex and critical processes and procedures are followed accurately and efficiently on a multi-shift basis to achieve departmental and unit business plans and priorities. You will also be tasked with resolving problems within the assigned department to keep activities on track, referring to appropriate associates for resolution when specialized expertise is required, and initiating crisis management methods if situations arise that could disrupt business operations. Your leadership will involve observing and reviewing associate performance to ensure that procedures and practices are executed appropriately and that all departmental functions are performed effectively and efficiently. You will engage and support associates by providing direction, coaching, feedback, and recognition, while also promoting good communication throughout the assigned department to achieve a thorough understanding of processes and procedures. Additionally, you will build and maintain strong business relationships with external service providers and other industry contacts as part of managing the assigned department.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the department Associates by creating and sharing a common vision and direction.
  • Communicates and works with managers and Associates of other areas to manage and accomplish operational objectives.
  • Supports and coordinates with managers of all levels to achieve unit goals and objectives.
  • Ensures the timeliness, quality, and effectiveness of all processes performed within the area of responsibility.
  • Directs the Team on activities and processes that enable CustomerFirst Service, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of merchandise.
  • Plans and manages programs and activities of the assigned department to ensure compliance with processes and procedures on a multi-shift basis.
  • Resolves problems in the assigned department to keep activities on track and initiates crisis management methods when necessary.
  • Observes and reviews Associate performance to ensure effective execution of procedures and practices.
  • Engages and supports Associates by providing direction, coaching, feedback, and recognition.
  • Promotes good communication throughout the assigned department to achieve understanding of processes and procedures.
  • Communicates issues with Associates in other logistics units and the Home Office as they relate to the assigned area.
  • Builds and maintains good business relationships with external service providers and industry contacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent logistics-related experience preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years related work experience with demonstrated success in overseeing a logistics function in a high-volume, multi-shift environment.
  • Crisis management experience.
  • 5 years of experience in supply chain management.
  • Strong supervisory and development abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good critical thinking skills for proactive planning and crisis management.
