The position is responsible for managing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives at the company's Fastening Systems. This role is pivotal in driving and leading a wide range of activities aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, productivity, and on-time delivery while simultaneously minimizing costs and waste. The individual will define activities that necessitate engineered solutions, which will lead to reduced waste, improved quality, enhanced throughput, increased machine/person ratios, improved safety, and better business unit DVP%. Collaboration is key in this role, as the individual will work closely with cross-functional internal teams focused on shop floor factory improvements, which may include capital expenditures (CAPEX). Standardizing processes and documenting them for repeatability is essential, along with training and certifying operators to ensure adherence to these processes. A strong understanding and analysis of Profit and Loss (P&L) statements will be required to identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and margin improvement. The role involves analyzing existing processes and pinpointing areas for improvement through data-driven methods, including Lean Six Sigma principles, root cause analysis, and statistical tools. Acting as an internal consultant and catalyst, the individual will assist plant leadership, individuals, and teams in applying continuous improvement principles and techniques to enhance operations. The position also requires driving consistent and uniform approaches for visual controls and productivity measurements across production teams and the factory. Facilitating successful Kaizen and rapid improvement process events with employees, customers, and suppliers is a major responsibility, with a strong emphasis on locally focused improvements. The individual will provide support for all follow-throughs necessary to sustain improvements made during these events. Instructing and training others in continuous process improvements, including various problem-solving and productivity techniques such as process mapping and cost time management, is also a key aspect of the role. Formal training on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts, principles, and practices will be provided, utilizing a learn-by-doing approach that combines classroom instruction with hands-on training. The individual will assist team leaders in developing team skills and knowledge to support management goals, project management, improvements, results measurements, problem-solving, and related team skills. Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and measure the impact of improvement initiatives is essential. The role may also support other HFS sites' continuous improvement activities as needed, including training, project-based work, and best practice support. Driving change management efforts to ensure successful implementation and sustainability of process improvements is crucial. The individual will identify and share best practices, lessons learned, and success stories to promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the organization. Staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies related to continuous improvement methodologies is also expected.
