About the position

The Supply Chain Planning Manager, Indirect at SpaceX plays a crucial role in managing the supply chain for the Starship mission. This position is responsible for developing strategies to optimize inventory levels, manage procurement processes, and ensure a robust supply chain that supports SpaceX's ambitious growth targets. The role involves collaboration with engineering and other departments to maintain a healthy flow of critical components and to drive cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop new methods or processes to ensure a healthy flow of critical components.
• Identify appropriate stock levels and re-order points based on part criticality, lead times, pricing, and consumption rates.
• Manage part retention policies to optimize warehouse space and reduce stagnant inventory.
• Collaborate with engineering to identify critical spare parts and determine proper quantities.
• Create systems to automate planning and sourcing activities.
• Monitor inventory levels and initiate purchase signals to maintain stock levels.
• Adjust internal inventory to maximize part movement and avoid excess spending.
• Present value propositions to management regarding contracts, cost reviews, and supply issues.
• Manage costs to adhere to project budgets and develop cost models for analysis.
• Develop technology and commodity roadmaps for future programs.
• Liaise between supply chain and engineering for supplier selection during new product introduction.
• Create purchase orders and ensure on-time delivery of materials while meeting quality and cost targets.
• Guide junior staff and provide strategic support.

Requirements

• Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material planning, operations, or supply chain management; or a bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience; or 9+ years of experience in relevant fields.
• Experience in material cost control and master production scheduling.
