About the position

The Manager, Supply Chain Planning at Valent BioSciences LLC is a pivotal role responsible for aligning the end-to-end supply chain to balance customer service and cost in accordance with the company's strategic objectives. This position will lead the master production schedule (MPS) strategy, which includes a 24-month horizon for the master production plan (MPR) projection, stock policies by SKU, and the MPS tool. The role is crucial for measuring adherence to our execution and operations against the plan through key performance indicators (KPIs). The manager will also oversee relationships with manufacturing facilities and tollers to ensure operational excellence within the supply chain. Additionally, this role will manage supply chain performance, capability, flexibility, resources, supply financials, and alternative supply scenarios. The individual will be responsible for driving results in supply chain planning and will directly manage the people and processes necessary to achieve these goals and objectives. In this role, the manager will be accountable for ensuring that all operations are successfully planned and executed to meet customer expectations. This includes optimizing inventory strategies across the supply chain network to ensure supply while minimizing costs, managing supplier production, and maintaining appropriate production planning and inventory levels. The manager will also coordinate communication strategies across the supply chain network, ensuring the quality and timeliness of inputs, outputs, and deliverables. Identifying potential constraints and creating contingency plans to mitigate risks will be essential. The manager will develop and achieve a supply chain adherence plan among the supply network and ensure operational excellence through thought leadership and continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires leading supply chain planning discussions through integrated Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) for short-term planning, preparing inputs for complex supply chain capacity planning as part of the monthly Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and S&OP processes, and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with customers and internal teams. The manager will also be responsible for setting and managing expectations with both internal and external customers, navigating high-pressure interactions effectively. Furthermore, the role involves managing capacity planning information, reviewing material availability, and addressing financial issues arising from production, as well as opportunities related to new product introductions and product obsolescence. The manager will implement and lead the Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) process and drive improvements in product availability reports while fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams and developing talent to create high-performing teams in a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring end-to-end operations are successfully planned and executed to meet all customer expectations.
  • Optimize inventory strategy across the supply chain network to ensure supply and minimize costs.
  • Manage supplier production, production planning, and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate communications strategy across the supply chain network.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of inputs, outputs, and deliverables to meet customer expectations.
  • Identify potential constraints and create recommended contingency plans to mitigate or minimize risks.
  • Develop and achieve Supply Chain Adherence plan among Supply Network.
  • Ensure operational excellence with thought leadership and proactive focus on continuous improvement.
  • Develop Supply Chain Strategies for Active Ingredients, Production Plan, and Package Plan to balance Customer Service and cost.
  • Lead Supply Chain Planning Discussion through integrated Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) for short-term planning (0-3 months).
  • Prepare and provide inputs for Complex Supply Chain Capacity Planning as part of the IBP/S&OP monthly process.
  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with customers, internal cross-functional teams, offshore teams, and external partners.
  • Set and manage expectations with internal and external customers; navigate high-pressure internal customer interactions successfully.
  • Manage capacity planning information resulting from the new or updated demand plan, review material availability and lead time issues, manage inventory, and financial issues arising from production.
  • Review and consider Manufacturing Capacity Plans (MCPs) to consolidate an integrated production plan by SKU by product segment volume/period.
  • Implement and lead the RCCP (Rough Cut Capacity Planning) meeting/process.
  • Drive improvements in the Product Availability report.
  • Practice collaboration with cross-functional teams, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement action plans.
  • Develop talent, create high-performing teams, and foster a positive, collaborative, and empowering work environment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of eight (8) years of supply chain experience including supply chain planning, master scheduling, materials management, and demand planning required.
  • S&OP experience is required.
  • Ability to be highly detail-oriented with outstanding follow-up skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of supply planning process; Ag-Chem experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced knowledge of Excel are required.
  • APICS certification or ability/willingness to obtain is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures is preferred.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed environment with a lot of independence under limited supervision is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of People Management experience required.
  • Minimum six (6) years experience with SAP required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Logistics, or Supply Chain related field is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures is preferred.
  • Ag-Chem experience is a plus.
  • APICS certification or ability/willingness to obtain is a plus.
