About the position

The Supply Chain Engineering Project Manager will play a pivotal role in developing innovative solutions to address complex supply chain challenges. This position is responsible for providing coaching and mentoring to other engineers, ensuring that the team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain regular and proactive communication with both customers and NFI management, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment on project goals and expectations. In this role, the Project Manager will collect data and perform statistical analyses to inform decision-making processes. They will map and document existing processes, independently identify gaps, and recommend and implement process improvements. Utilizing standard engineering methodologies and tools, the Project Manager will design effective distribution and transportation solutions tailored to meet client needs. Conducting thorough supply chain analyses, they will recommend alternative strategies that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The Project Manager will actively support the sales process by creating high-quality solutions and designs that add value to the organization. They will provide proposal and presentation support for new business development initiatives, effectively interacting with customers, sales teams, and operations to craft compelling value propositions. Managing multiple small to medium-sized projects simultaneously, the Project Manager will lead, coach, and mentor other engineers, applying Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) tools to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering is required
  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in transportation management, dedicated fleet operations, distribution center management, materials handling, industrial engineering, decision support systems, and technology
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 3 years of 3PL experience
  • Strong knowledge of transportation and warehousing solutions and operations
  • Labor Management Software (LMS) experience is required
  • Data management and manipulation skills
  • Programming skills to manipulate large data sets
  • Experience with routing and scheduling packages and transportation optimization software
  • AutoCAD and Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Inventory Analysis tools
  • Strong financial conceptual skills
  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Demonstrated data manipulation skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience preparing and presenting oral and written presentations to management and clients
  • Experience with supply chain technology
  • Well-organized with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical skills quickly
  • Understanding of optimization and/or simulation algorithms
  • Database skills, especially through SQL or Access
  • Knowledge in VBA, Python, R, Java, C++, or C# is a major plus
