About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Supply Chain Purchasing Manager to oversee the purchase of commodities. This role is critical in ensuring that the supply chain operates efficiently and reliably, which is essential for meeting the demands of production and assembly. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for sourcing, reviewing, and purchasing commodities from various vendors, ensuring that the materials required for production are available when needed. This position requires a strong understanding of inventory strategies and the ability to evaluate market conditions to make informed purchasing decisions. In addition to managing the purchasing process, the Senior Supply Chain Purchasing Manager will supervise department personnel and report to management teams. This includes analyzing manufacturing needs, enterprise resource planning, and other material requirements based on assembly demands, replenishments, substitute parts/materials, production set-ups, engineering changes, and enterprise supplies. The role also involves resolving schedule and material requirements issues, collaborating with cross-functional representatives to address business system problems, and negotiating lead times to ensure timely delivery of materials. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for approving parts and/or material requisitions and initiating production and purchase orders. This position plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of the supply chain and ensuring that production schedules are met without delays. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management and purchasing, with the ability to lead a team effectively and make strategic decisions that benefit the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Perform sourcing, reviewing, and purchasing commodities from vendors

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent education/experience
  • 5 years of Supply Chain/Purchasing experience
  • Prior management/lead experience
  • Experience overseeing commodities
