About the position

The position involves accurately maintaining a perpetual inventory in the storeroom and in the automated Pyxis stations. The individual will be responsible for the maintenance and tracking of specialty equipment utilized by patients throughout the hospital. Responsibilities

  • Pulls appropriate supplies and/or equipment from the storeroom as orders are received through the Supply Chain Management Information System (SCIS) and/or the Nursing Information System and stages for delivery.
  • Distributes supplies and equipment to all departments in the hospital within established time guidelines.
  • Responsible for inventorying, re-stocking, and maintaining all specialty carts, including lifesaving Code Blue carts, in the hospital.
  • Communicates with customers via telephone, in person, and/or computer to coordinate product delivery and address issues that meet customer needs.
  • Maintains, inventories, and replenishes standing par level locations throughout the facility by utilizing SCIS to create electronic pick tickets based on daily cycle counts.
  • Assists in weekly and annual physical inventory counts and/or cycle counts to maintain an accurate perpetual inventory within SCIS.
  • Charges and credits both patient and departmental products as necessary through SCIS or Nursing Information System.
  • Maintains electronic Pyxis machines by replenishing each station based on daily electronic requisitions and pick tickets.
  • Utilizes web-based programs to order, request repairs, and request pick-ups of specialty equipment such as Specialty Beds and Wound Vacs.
  • Maintains all documents related to specialty equipment for appropriate patient charging and crediting.
  • Performs daily rounds to collect soiled equipment and return it for proper inspection and cleaning.
  • Responsible for the receipt, storage, and delivery of over-the-counter medications, plain IV fluids, and medical device kits containing pharmaceuticals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
  • No experience required
