About the position

The Strategic Sourcing Manager Lead is a pivotal role within Arrowhead Engineered Products, responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sourcing strategies that optimize value across the organization. This position requires a balance between the cost of acquisition and the cost of possession, with a focus on maximizing working capital. The manager will oversee a significant workload and spend, exceeding one hundred million dollars, across all company locations and three distinct business segments. In this role, the Strategic Sourcing Manager Lead will manage a team, providing support and guidance while driving year-over-year productivity through detailed value-added analysis and strategic development. Collaboration with product management, sales, operations, finance, and other internal stakeholders is essential to develop strategic projects, including new product development, product line extensions, and cost reduction initiatives. The manager will perform complex financial and cost analyses for various projects, contributing to Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) reduction efforts and ensuring that all projects are executed effectively and efficiently. The position also involves overseeing the negotiation and management of supplier contracts, including nondisclosure agreements, terms and conditions, performance metrics, and pricing adjustments. Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers is crucial, as is monitoring supplier performance and developing risk strategies to mitigate potential disruptions. The manager will ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical standards while driving sustainability initiatives, such as responsible sourcing and environmentally friendly practices. Additionally, the role requires generating and presenting supplier performance metrics and managing continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to optimize value.
  • Manage workload and spend exceeding one hundred million dollars across all locations and business segments.
  • Provide support and guidance to the team, driving year-over-year productivity.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop strategic projects including new product development and cost reduction.
  • Perform complex financial and cost analysis for projects and contribute to TCO reduction efforts.
  • Develop project schedules and manage multiple projects in varying stages.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all projects and their P&L relevance.
  • Enhance processes, analytics tools, KPIs, and reporting capabilities to drive efficiencies.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier contracts, including performance metrics and pricing adjustments.
  • Cultivate relationships with key suppliers and monitor supplier performance.
  • Develop risk strategies to mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and ethical standards.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives and responsible sourcing practices.
  • Generate and present supplier performance metrics and manage corrective actions.
  • Identify and report obstacles to leadership and provide alternative solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Distribution, or Engineering.
  • 7+ years of validated supply chain experience within a similar industry preferred.
  • 3+ years of direct management experience.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personnel practices including recruitment and professional development.
  • Self-directed and motivated with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Ability to navigate complex business environments and adapt to changing market conditions.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and sound business judgment skills.
  • Experience in negotiation and contract management in a matrixed corporate environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and analytic tools such as Microsoft Access, PowerPoint, Project, Excel, Power BI, NetSuite, S2K & SAP.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and drawings.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality systems.
