About the position

The Supply Chain Technician at St. Tammany Health System is responsible for receiving, delivering, and stocking supplies within the St. Tammany Surgery Center. This role ensures that supplies are managed efficiently, including the immediate delivery of overnight and refrigerated items, maintaining the appearance of storage areas, and conducting inventory counts to facilitate restocking. The technician plays a crucial role in supporting the operational needs of the health system by communicating stock levels and ensuring quality control in supply management.

Responsibilities

• Receive, deliver, and stock supplies within the St. Tammany Surgery Center.
• Deliver overnight and refrigerated items immediately.
• Operate equipment necessary to transport supplies.
• Maintain the appearance of the Dock, Central Storeroom, and PAR closets, including accurate labeling of stocked items.
• Count inventory using a handheld computer in PAR closets to generate orders for restocking.
• Issue, pick, and deliver supplies from the central storeroom as needed.
• Communicate potential stockouts and necessary par level adjustments to the Buyer.
• Routinely check stocked items for expiration dates and rotate supplies to use older items first.
• Perform all other related duties as directed by the Materials Operations Manager or Director of Materials Management.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Basic computer skills and mathematical skills for accurate counting.
• Effective communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Preferred hospital experience.
• Good interpersonal skills and commitment to quality control.
