About the position

The position involves joining the Amazon Kindle Reader and Shopping Support Engineering team, focusing on providing production engineering support and multifaceted services to the Kindle digital product family. The role requires quick learning and the ability to manage overlapping tasks effectively, contributing to software product release coordination and deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for incoming tickets, including extensive troubleshooting tasks across multiple products, features, and services.
  • Work on operations and maintenance driven coding projects, primarily in Java and C++.
  • Support software deployment in staging and production environments.
  • Develop tools to aid operations and maintenance.
  • Report on system and support status.
  • Take ownership of one or more digital products or components.
  • Coordinate customer notifications and workflow follow-ups to maintain service level agreements.
  • Collaborate with the support team for handing-off or taking over active support issues and creating a team-specific knowledge base.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of software development or technical support experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
  • Experience in Unix.
  • Experience scripting in modern programming languages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of web services, distributed systems, and web application development.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining hardware and software RAID.
  • Experience with REST web services, XML, JSON.
