Requirements

  • Two (2) years of mobile equipment operating experience.
  • Completion of academic and practical competencies required, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees.

Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment in support of production including de-watering, materials delivery, maintaining berms, and surface maintenance.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as haul trucks, water trucks, rubber tire dozers, track dozers, excavators, motor graders, and front-end loaders.
  • Assist with training and mentoring of other equipment operators.
  • Understand changes to assigned work areas and any potential hazards.
  • Know procedures for start-up and shut-down, parking, mounting and dismounting, Lock-Out Tag-Out Try-Out (LOTOTO), emergency, fire, and working with ground personnel.
  • Perform road building, managing stockpiles, road surface maintenance, building and maintaining road berms, loading trucks, and trenching.
  • Understand equipment components and practices that reduce component damage and wear.
  • Assist with project work including establishing ramps and maintaining reclamation slopes.
  • Perform operations support activities such as barricading shovels and assisting with power cable moves.
  • Communicate through computer dispatching system or two-way radio.
  • Perform pre-shift inspection of equipment.
  • Perform minor maintenance activities as required.
