About the position

The Support Group Facilitator at Vital Behavioral Care is responsible for leading therapeutic group sessions aimed at assisting individuals facing various mental health challenges. This role emphasizes creating a safe and supportive environment for participants, utilizing techniques such as art therapy and clinical counseling to foster healing and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate group therapy sessions for individuals experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other behavioral health issues.
  • Implement therapeutic techniques, including art therapy, to encourage self-expression and emotional processing among participants.
  • Conduct assessments to identify the needs of group members and tailor sessions accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation and records of group activities, participant progress, and any incidents that occur during sessions.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans for individuals in inpatient settings.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices in clinical counseling and behavioral health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Entry level is also accepted.
  • Experience in facilitating group therapy or counseling sessions is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical records management is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of PTSD care principles and Christian counseling approaches is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse populations effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Certification or training in crisis intervention is preferred but not required.
