About the position

The Support Services Administration Assistant at Brazos County Health District is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support within a designated division. This role involves interacting with clients, managing records, and assisting healthcare professionals in various tasks related to public health services.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and enters client information into the computer.
  • Reads, validates, and prints client records.
  • Provides necessary information to clients and collects appropriate fees.
  • Issues receipts for immunizations, shot records, STI, blood work, and other medical services.
  • Greets the public, answers the telephone, and directs callers/visitors to appropriate services.
  • Forwards electronic faxes and distributes printed faxes to appropriate divisions.
  • Assists nurses with immunization, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases, and adult health clinics.
  • Assembles charts for daily appointments and prepares information sheets.
  • Completes Medicaid billing forms and notifies nurses of client visits.
  • Schedules follow-up appointments and enters records into the database.
  • Generates service reminders or notifications of delinquent appointments for clients.
  • Performs routine administrative and clerical work, including email correspondence and preparing reports.
  • Complies with policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook and Personnel Policies of Brazos County, Texas.
  • May assist with clinics within and/or outside of city limits and act as a translator for county personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of clerical experience.
  • Knowledge of basic math, personnel policies and procedures, and standard office practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county employees and the public.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in standard word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to read and interpret standard policies and procedures and medical records.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and deal effectively with the public.
  • May be required to speak and write Spanish.
