About the position

The mission of Faith Regional Health Services is to serve Christ by providing all people with exemplary medical services in an environment of love and care. This position performs clerical duties for the Radiology department, including entering orders and checking in patients scheduled for imaging exams and procedures. The role requires a wide variety of clerical functions that necessitate independent judgment. Responsibilities include maintaining adequate unit supplies while adhering to cost containment policies, demonstrating knowledge of medical terminology and computer systems, and ensuring accurate penmanship and written communication. The job also involves operating standard office equipment and maintaining responsible contact with the public. Duties may be adjusted based on the organization's needs.

Responsibilities

  • Places orders and/or checks patients in for Radiology procedures ordered for Radiology outpatients.
  • Accurately maintains the records of all patients in a confidential manner.
  • Accurately mails documents and distributes mail daily.
  • Carries out duties and responsibilities of position without specific supervision, making decisions within limits.
  • Ensures positive relationships with physicians and their offices, maintaining professionalism in all communications.
  • Keeps proper tracking of physician's orders.
  • Obtains signatures for patients for release or records/consent forms.
  • Demonstrates abilities to adapt to unexpected events, identifying role in emergencies and projecting a positive attitude.
  • Displays accurate knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) order entry/RIS.
  • Requests and returns outside imaging studies.
  • Serves as liaison between department and medical records, accounting, and billing/coding issues.
  • Participates in in-service training and is responsible for training new employees on Radiology office duties.
  • Attends monthly department meetings.
  • Reviews and completes CT/MRI history forms for scheduled outpatients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • GED or High School Diploma preferred.
  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
