About the position

As a Supportive Visitation Program Transporter at Eckerd Connects, you will play a crucial role in the lives of children and families involved in child welfare cases. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference and are committed to serving at-risk youth. Your primary responsibility will be to transport children and/or parents to and from visitation locations, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the process. You will maintain the vehicle used for transportation and keep accurate logs of your trips. Communication is key in this role, as you will be interacting with visitation specialists, parents, resource parents, and children, ensuring that all interactions are culturally sensitive and respectful of the family's preferred language and cultural background. In addition to transportation duties, you will provide supervision of youth during visits, ensuring that the environment is safe and conducive to healthy attachment between parents and children. You will also be required to attend relevant training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge in this area. The Supportive Visitation Program is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children who have been temporarily removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect, and your role will be integral in facilitating these important family interactions. This position offers a flexible and hybrid working schedule, allowing for remote case management alongside on-site visits. Responsibilities

  • Transport children and/or parents to and from visitation locations.
  • Ensure the safety of passengers during transportation.
  • Maintain the vehicle used for transportation and keep accurate logs.
  • Communicate effectively with visitation specialists, parents, resource parents, and children.
  • Provide supervision of youth during visits in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with families in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Ensure a safe and non-traumatizing environment for parent-child contact.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, with at least two years of direct experience with at-risk youth population in Juvenile Justice or Residential experience.
  • An Associate of Arts, Bachelor, or Master's Degree may substitute for two years of professional experience.
  • Must use own vehicle for transportation and meet requirements for Eckerd's auto insurance.
  • Proven safe driving record required.
  • Ability to follow directions and adhere to all safety regulations.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age per DJJ guidelines.
  • Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
